GALAPAGOS!

The famed archipelago (hope I spelled that right) of islands off the coast of Ecuador is famed for its abundant wildlife and unique ecosystems... it is therefore one of THE todo places on the South American itinerary, and ridiculously expensive to boot. Value for money though, as you...

WATCH FRIGATE BIRDS PUFF UP THEIR RED THROAT SACKS, and make funny noises at the female of the species while strutting their red stuff, a local mating ritual that probably is responsible for the flashing breed among the human males...

SNORKLE IN CRYSTAL CLEAR WATERS, and exhaust yourself doing the underwater jig with playful sea lions...

COMMISERATE WITH LONESOME GEORGE, the giant sea turtle in captivity on Santa Cruz island who is the last of his species. Theories abound why he does not want to hump the two other females in the pen with him, but it is either a racsist thing (different species) or he is gay... time will tell. Last resort... clone him!
CHECK OUT SOME HOT HOMO ACTION on other parts of the island, dude that is another male get off him! We start to suspect there is something slightly off with all of the turtles in this valley...

GAWK AT SOME DINO THROWBACKS, the local land and sea iguanas are huge, ugly and lazy, but make for great photo ops...

CHILL OUT ON THE BEACH WITH THE LOCALS... these sea lions have THE life. They eat, they swim, they hang out on the beach... kinda what we are doing on our semi-luxury cruise around the islands.
Currently we are only halfway, half the 14 passengers have left the boat and we have a fresh bunch from all over the world, I plan to subjugate them to my theories on global warming, Republican political policy, drug overpresciption and the Springbok World Cup prospects over the next few days, while attempting to track down that elusive hammerhead shark...

Cool blog! I'm starting to plan a trip to Galapagos, in January. I've lived in Argentina for a few months now, so I'm just getting the hang of this South America thing. Enjoying your blog and the pics!
