PRE-PHASE 1: Philadelphia

El cumplimiento verdadero viene por seguir su propòsito
(True fullfilment comes through pursuing your purpose)

My first 30-odd hours in the States have not yielded any earth-shattering new experiences, except for the following highly memorable but not particularly life-changing activities:

1. Fly into JFK, take a bus to Port Authority, take another bus to Philadelphia, take a taxi to my mate Kevin's bachelor pad and proceed to catch a few hours of sleep. What struck me is what a nice town Phillie is, and he lives in a great neighbourhood!
2. Try out his rollerblades, play chicken with uncoming traffic, decide to park rollerblades until I've actually had a chance to ask him how they work. Opt to go for jog instead and buy six pack of Miller Light, thereby giving SAB Miller and the South African stock market the much needed economic injection required to recover from its recent slump.
3. My tired mate, not-so-fresh from juggling full time job, part-time MBA and girlfriend, spends an hour with me before hitting the sack. I substitute him with an hour of Friends reruns before passing out again.
4. This morning, armed with fresh directions, confidence and energy, don the rollerblades again and go for sensational blad session down the river for about 5 miles. Starting to like this city more... This is followed up by walking endlessly in search of internet cafe, end up having a Cuban salad for lunch instead and write down half my power quotes book into new booklet for Spanish translations - the fruits of which I will inflict upon you, the readers, in months to come...

Tonight we feast, tomorrow New York! Let's see how that all pans out...
